Paperback Ready is a Google Docs™ add-on published by Dropzball ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the add-on uses and why. In short: your manuscript stays in your Google account. We never copy it to our own servers, never sell it, and never use it to train anything.
The document you have open. The add-on reads only the Google Doc in which you open it, to lay it out as a book. It never changes that document. The layout runs inside Google's own infrastructure (Google Apps Script). The text of your manuscript is never sent to us or to any third party.
The PDFs you create. When you click "Create print-ready PDF", the add-on saves a PDF file in your own Google Drive. It can only see and manage the files it creates itself, not the rest of your Drive. Only you can access the PDF unless you share it.
Your book settings (title, author name, dedication, copyright line, trim size and style choices). They are stored with the document and in your own Google account (Apps Script properties) so the form is pre-filled next time. We cannot read them.
The email address and licence key you enter to unlock Pro. They are stored in your own Google account and used only for the licence check described in section 2.
Paperback Ready Pro is sold through Stripe, which processes the payment, the taxes and the invoice. Stripe collects your email address and payment details under Stripe's privacy policy; we never see your card number. To unlock Pro, you first enter the email address you used to pay. Our licence server asks Stripe whether a completed purchase of Paperback Ready Pro exists for that email and, if it does, emails a licence key to that address (sent through Google, from Dropzball). You then enter the email and the key in the add-on. From then on, the add-on sends the email address, the key, the product name, and an anonymous identifier that Google Apps Script provides for your account (it changes every 30 days and does not reveal your name or email) to our licence server, which answers "Pro" or "free". The server keeps that answer in a temporary cache (up to six hours). It keeps a one-way code of the email (not the address itself) with the anonymous identifiers that used the purchase in the last 31 days, only to limit one purchase to five Google accounts, and keeps no other record. When something goes wrong, a short technical error message is recorded in our Google Cloud logs so we can fix it; it never contains your manuscript.
We do not store, read or analyse the content of your documents.
We do not sell, rent or share personal data, and we show no advertising.
We do not use your data, or any Google user data, to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Paperback Ready's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your documents and PDFs stay in your Google Drive until you delete them. To remove the add-on's access and stored settings, uninstall Paperback Ready and revoke its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Stripe keeps purchase records as required by law; you can ask us to delete any other data by email.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data and to object to its processing. Write to us at the address below. You may also contact your data protection authority (in France: the CNIL).
